How the video editor works

The video editor is a built-in timeline editor. It is the one place where you edit videos after they are generated. It also lets you build a video from scratch on an empty timeline.

How do I open the editor?

There are two ways:

To edit a finished video: go to the videos list, move your pointer over a video card, and click Edit. The video opens in the editor with everything already on the timeline.
To start from scratch: go to editor and pick a size under New project. You can choose 9:16 (tall), 1:1 (square), or 16:9 (wide).

Your recent projects also show on the same page, so you can continue where you stopped.

Why does the editor fill the whole screen?

The editor takes over the full screen and shows its own top bar. The normal sidebar is hidden so you get the most room for the timeline and the preview. Use the top bar to go back to the dashboard.

What can I do in the editor?

Generate new images, video clips, voiceover, music, and sound effects from panels inside the editor.
Upload your own images, clips, and audio.
Add and style captions.
Change the background music track.
Move, trim, and layer items on the timeline.

Generations inside the editor cost credits, the same way they do during video creation. The editor shows the credit cost before you generate.

Do I need to save my work?

No. The editor saves your project automatically while you work.

How do I get the finished video?

Use the export option in the editor to render your project to a video file. Export itself costs 0 credits. Downloading videos needs a plan; How to download your video.
