# How to add your own images to a video

You can put your own photos in a video: your face, your product, a place. Upload the image from the script box. It becomes a reusable "element" that you mention in your script with an @ name. Scenes that mention it are generated from your photo.

## How do I upload an image?

1. Open the create page and switch to the **Script to Video** tab.
2. Click the **+** button at the bottom left of the script box. On a wide screen you can also click the **Add Image** shortcut next to it.

3. Click **Add image** and pick a photo from your device.
4. Give the image a name, for example "Maya" or "MyProduct", and save it.

5. AITuber inserts an @mention like `@Maya` into your script at the cursor.
6. Write your script around the mention. Every scene that contains the @mention uses your photo.

You upload one image at a time. To use more images, repeat the steps for each one.

## What files can I upload?

## Why did my image quality setting change?

Two settings change automatically when your script mentions an uploaded image:

- Every image quality can use your photos, including **Basic**.
- Each photo used in a scene adds 3 credits to that scene, on top of the normal image cost.
- **Stock footage** cannot use your photos. The app switches you to AI images.

If you remove the @mention, the app switches your old settings back.

## Which video types can use my photo?

Not every video type can. Check before you spend credits, because a type that cannot use your
photo will draw the thing from scratch instead, and the result will not match.

| Stock footage | No. The app switches those scenes to AI images |
| 3D Talking Characters | No |

**3D Talking Characters is the one that surprises people.** It builds its own character and
cannot take a product photo or a reference photo. If you need your own product or person on
screen, use Faceless or Avatar instead.

## Can I reuse images across videos?

Yes. Every uploaded image is saved as an element. Elements are reusable people, things, and places. Manage them at [elements page](https://app.aituber.app/dashboard/elements). In a faceless script, or in a music video **Visual Direction** box, click the **+** button and pick **Characters**, **Things**, or **Browse all** to insert a saved element.
